A cookie banner without recurring monthly costs

Over the past few years, Consent Management Platforms (CMPs) have become a fixed cost for many organizations. Sometimes these costs can run up to hundreds of euros per month. But what are you actually paying for?

Most CMPs base their pricing model on the number of pages crawled monthly. In practice, this is not a real cost for a CMP provider. Moreover, the usefulness of such a dynamically generated overview of cookies is often overestimated. A CMP suggests that such an automatic list saves you a lot of work, but in reality, these crawls are rarely complete. Important pages – for example, steps in a checkout or pages behind a login – are often not reached. And cookies that are found are regularly not recognized.

The result: in addition to the monthly costs, you still need to hire an expert to properly configure the CMP for you.

In addition, many, often international, CMP settings do not align well with the Dutch situation. In the Netherlands, consent is not required for limited analytical cookies with no or minimal privacy impact. This regularly causes confusion when a visitor turns off the analytics toggle, but analytical measurements continue anyway.
